Born in Bully-les-Mines in 1905 and dead in 1993, Édouard Pignon is a young miner like all the men of his family. After his military service, he goes up to Paris where he becomes workman at Citroen then Renault... by love of painting because the most part of his wages passes in the lessons and the essential supplies that he needs to the practice of the art which attracted him. It is only after the Second World war, during which he worked in Resistance, that he knows a real success. Man of North of France, he was fascinated by the colors of the South which inspired to him a series of tables devoted to the Plungers in which this original work carried out for the Post office in 1981 fits.
