Born in Boulogne-sur-Mer in 1890 and dead in 1968, Valentine Hugo is the wife of one of the great-grandson of Victor Hugo. Remarkable illustrator of books and decorator of theatre, she was very related to the artistic and literary currents of first half of the XX^th century, in particular with surrealism. She left a whole whole of portraits of personalities which she coasts along, of which that of René Char reproduces on this stamp.
