Lawyer born in Arras, called the Incorruptible one by Marat, Maximilien Robespierre (1758-1794) was appointed Third and directed to the Jacobins the opposition against the policy of Gironde. With the lawsuit of Louis XVI, he pronounced death without call like state security measure. At the committee of Public Safety, he reigned by Terror and got rid of his rivals first Hebert and then Danton. He establishes the Worship of supreme Being and was the heart of the insurrections which led to the triumph of the Mountain movement. He was reversed by conventional 9 Thermidor year II (July 27, 1794) and perishes on the scaffold where he made so much victims. His death marks the end of Terror.
