EUGÈNE THOMAS
Eugene Thomas was born in Vieux-Condé in 1903 and dead in Le Quesnoy in 1969. Son of customs officer, resulting from a modest family, Eugene Thomas was an initially teacher before launching out in a trade-union and political career. In 1936, he is elected socialist depute and is opposed to the agreements of Munich. Mobilized, he makes the school of cavalry of Saumur and becomes second lieutenant. Captive fact in Boulogne, he escapes and gains the free zone. He initially continues the fight within the clandestine socialist party then within Resistance. Person in charge for the movement France to the combat, he is arrested in April 1943 by Gestapo. He spends 9 months to the prison of Fresnes before being off-set in Buchenwald. Released by the Allies in April 1945, he is re-elected depute of the North. |

At the request of Général De Gaulle, he enters the provisional Government to the minister of the P.T.T. He will find this same minister into 1958 before resigning.
